Geothermal mineral springs, also referred to as 'true hot springs' are what you will find scattered amongst the Peninsula Hot Springs site. Geothermal water is heated naturally and emerges from the earth's crust. Some spas and bath houses contain pools filled with natural mineral water from an on-site mineral spring, but the water does not come from a geothermal source and is manually heated. The water that fills these pools is referred to as a 'mineral spring'.
